Well, after several attempts, all failed due to my inherent laziness, I’ve finally put up something on the interwebz. Then came my next problem: what to actually put up here!! I could try putting up my pearls of wisdom (the wind out there is no wind at all, he’s gonna be in there till someone lets him out), or wow you all with my now-legendary wit (Why does Santa have three gardens??… So he can Ho Ho Ho), but I think that for my first post, I’ll go with the safe bet of a “you-can-get-to-know-me-by-reading-this-post” post.
So in time-honoured tradition, here is ten things you may not have known about me:
- I was born at 2.22 in the morning. Pretty useless fact, but there it is.
- I have an honours degree in Computer Science from Dublin City University. This means I can officially put B.Sc after my name. But I don’t….
- I play softball. Quite simple really: You can’t leave first until you chug a beer. And then scoring, you have to chug a beer. You have to chug a beer after all odd-numbered innings. Oh, and the 4th inning is the beer inning. If you can do that, you can be a valuable member of the team. I play with the 1z Blazzers, IOST plate champions of 2009.

- I’m a PHP developer. Working for Web Reservations International, primarily on www.hostelworld.com.
- I will rarely if ever watch a movie with Russell Crowe or Julia Roberts. Everyone has an actor or actress they can’t stand for absolutely no reason at all. Those two are mine.
- The last movie I watched was “The Running Man”… “Where’s Buzzsaw – He had to split”
- I have a little brother, Stephen, who is studying to be an electronic engineer.
- My first CD was “Blue” by Eiffel(sic) 65. One of many regrettable music choices if my friend’s opinions are to be believed. And speaking of music, I have an unhealthy obsession with christmas music. Any time of year, I even have it on my iPod.
- Some people drink tea, others drink coffee. Me, I enjoy a nice hot miwadi or hot ribena.
- I’ve travelled quite a bit, including skiing in Austria and Prague, and other trips to Berlin, Manchester, London, Pernink (Czech Republic), Cyprus (playing football), Lanzarote (playing quite a different game) and Wales. Actually, on one of the ski trips, I flew from Prague to Frankfurt to London to Dublin in the one day. Next on my list hopefully is Rome or Paris, followed by the States.

So that’s my random ten PHACTS (In Rafa We Trust
). Who knows, I might revisit this in “Ten Things: Part Deux” with Charlie Sheen playing me as I take on the might of Saddam Hussein.
